John 20:19-22:\u00a0<\/strong>On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, \u201cPeace be with you!\u201d<\/p>\n After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.<\/p>\n Again Jesus said, \u201cPeace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.\u201d And with that he breathed on them and said, \u201cReceive the Holy Spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n The disciples had been running in fear up to this point in the story. They were hiding from the Jewish leaders when Jesus appeared to them. He showed them the horror that had been done to his body proving His power over death. The resurrection and the promise of eternal life confirm that evil, sickness, even death will not have the final word. They confirm that \u201cthe worst thing is never the last thing.\u201d Christ\u2019s promise \u201cbecause I live you will live also,\u201d fundamentally changes how we face our future. Think about how this changes our viewpoint how much risk we are willing to take in our lives, how we approach growing old, how we deal with the death of people we love, and how we look at our own death.<\/p>\n Lord Jesus, you rose again on the third day. I ask you by your Resurrection to make me rise gloriously with you at my last day. Let me be always united with you in heaven to praise you, love you, and glorify you forever.
